A group of their own
There is a mild misconception that wild horses are not friendly. That is not true. They travel in herds and are very friendly. They protect one another and gaze on the familiar ground. If there is another stallion that attempts to take the herd away, there will be a fight between the two stallions to take the herd away. The fight is often brutal, and the horses can incur severe injuries in the quest. The winner, of course, takes the crowd away.
Protecting the herd in case of danger
Even the mares fight the stallion if they find the foal is threatened. The injured horse immediately dies as the injuries can be broken bones, lots of internal bleeding and more. The herd later roams to different roads and lands. They graze together and drink water from the streams, lakes and the rivers they pass by. They are different from the racing horses that participate in games and tournaments. Sleep, food, and water
Wild horses can sleep either standing or while lying down. They prefer to sleep standing as when they are lying down they are more susceptible to predators that will attack them. There is a common misconception that wild horses eat oats and hay only. They are omnivores, and they eat meat and plants. The wild mustangs eat bush and grass.
However, in the winter wild horses face the challenges of food and survival. If the health of the horse is good, the animal can go without food for a very long time. If it has a large stored amount of body fat it acts as its energy source and it eats snow for water.
Some wild horses often find food in industrial sites that are abandoned in the United States of America. They look for food and water on public land. If predators confront them, their first reaction is to flee or fight. They are first to escape. It is essential for the government and people to protect wild horses as they are on the verge of extinction. It is crucial for everyone to support them and ensure they get the food, water, and the territory they need to stay to survive and rule the wild!
